About
The GEMS International Workshop is a premier annual forum dedicated to sharing the operational achievements and scientific advancements of the Geostationary Environment Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS). Since its launch, the workshop has focused on enhancing air quality monitoring capabilities across Asia and ensuring that satellite data provides valuable insights for environmental policy and forecasting. By fostering collaboration with international partners, the workshop plays a central role in advancing the global Geo-ring constellation, a collaborative international network of geostationary satellites dedicated to continuous air quality monitoring across the Northern Hemisphere.
The 17th GEMS International Workshop will be held from 9 to 11 September 2026 at the RYSE Hotel in Seoul. This year’s meeting focuses on the maturity of GEMS data products, highlighting advanced algorithm updates and long-term validation results derived from the Pandora Asia Network (PAN) and recent field campaigns. Key sessions will explore the synergy between geostationary missions, AI-driven data analysis, and the integration of satellite observations into air quality models. We invite researchers and experts from around the world to join us in discussing the present and future of space-based air quality monitoring.
